Warming Up Work with Academic Coffee: How Epik partnered with a local coffee roaster.

From its reliable warmth to its boost of energy, there's no surprise that the US coffee industry's revenue was $85.16 billion in 2022. From its waves and evolution, coffee has become a mainstay in American life and culture. And it's earned its spot in the workplace.
When working with gear as strong as Epik Workwear, your job is pretty demanding. And with the cold weather, we wanted to pack in a special gift for customers to receive at random. And we thought a bag of coffee would be appreciated no matter the task!
Our brand is committed to reliable quality, and we wanted even our small giveaway to retain that spirit. We wanted to collaborate with a partner committed to the same drive for quality. Meet Frank Nguyen, founder, and entrepreneur of a local roaster called Academic Coffee.
Academic started as a pop-up and opened a corner shop in downtown San Jose in 2017. The brand has always focused on the local community, providing a comfortable and artistic space for locals to fuel up. In 2020, Frank launched Academic's in-house roasting, unprecedentedly committed to quality ingredients and roasting. He elaborated,
"Great coffee comes from great people, and our guiding principle has always been to treat our team well so they can treat our customers well. After that, everything else falls into place."
In the brief time we've had with Frank, he truly has shown a heart for the local community and an impressive drive for quality coffee. He explained his thoughts on great coffee:
"… For us, hard work is about doing the job well, with intentionality, no matter the task… If people start their day with coffee, it better be a fine cup. Starting with quality coffee helps set the tone and mood for the day."
